Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us is retained as needed to prepare a response. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical information when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view timestamps and the pages visited
- The device's IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device category
- Time spent on viewed pages
- A referring website, when one is reported
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic data, such as which pages are used most and where visits end. A browser can refuse cookies, although some website functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a submitted query to the selected search provider
- Maintaining reliable and responsive pages
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Measuring which material visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not host, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The published material identifies where Luzerne County records are maintained, including city police, Corrections, the courts, the Pennsylvania State Police Central Repository, and the PSP Megan's Law Public Website. Visitor information is not turned into a third-party dossier or consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms govern data entered into those tools, and each partner sets its own retention and disclosure practices. Review the applicable partner policy before sending a query because we do not control those choices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Luzerne County offices, Pennsylvania agencies, court portals, legal resources, or outside search providers. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy policy applies. Check it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to observe activity across websites and select targeted ads. We do not operate that cross-site tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be available to these limited recipients:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- A search partner receiving a query submitted through its box
- Advertising networks placing material on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet system can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such data is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy law may supply additional rights based on a visitor's residence. Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law, 65 P.S. §§67.101-67.3104, concerns records of public agencies rather than private visitor data, while 18 Pa.C.S. Chapter 91 governs criminal-history information. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information held about that visitor
- Ask that inaccurate visitor information be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law provides that option
- Object to covered forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. A changed version will appear here with its new effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
